+ Positive Thinking +

I never thought how important it could be until today. It’s very powerful in the sense that it will create positive energy around you and pull all the positive circumstances to you. You might think it sounds philosophical but it is true. I experienced it myself. I was in a very depressed state since early May until recently. This depression was the negative thoughts I carried with me and it brought more negative energy on me. So my situation got worse. But then I realized it was me who has attracted all these negative outcomes. So I put aside all my emotions and rationalized myself to think of something good, something positive. I feel better and the situation that surrounds me get better too. Even the people around me become better. This is something that I must keep in mind for a better life! =)

Mind

  • The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.
  • Go that extra mile, it’s never crowded there.
  • There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.
  • Supposing is good, but finding out is better.
  • An essential part of creativity is not being afraid to fail.
  • Everyone and everything around you is your teacher.
  • Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
  • Don’t compromise yourself. You are all you’ve got.
  • To teach is to learn twice.
  • The moment you stop learning, you stop leading.
  • Every great achievement was once considered impossible.
  • Change is the end result of all true learning.
  • One that would have the fruit must first climb the tree.
  • The wisest mind has something yet to learn.
  • Vision is the art of seeing the invisible.
  • Every exit is an entry somewhere.
  • Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.
  • Kites fly highest against the wind, not with it.
  • Every problem has a gift for you in its hands.
  • Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped.
  • Times change, and we change with them.
  • The only disability in life is a bad attitude.
  • No great thing comes to any human unless he has courage.
  • Our life is what our thoughts make of it.
  • Change before you have to.
  • The man who has no imagination has no wings.
  • For success, attitude is equally as important as ability.
  • Zeal without knowledge is fire without light.
  • Your success is only limited to your desire.
  • A man is not old as long as he is seeking something.
  • The best way to escape from a problem is to solve it.
  • The brighter you are, the more you have to learn.
  • A person who aims at nothing is sure to hit it.
  • You get out of life what you put in.
  • Don’t just learn the tricks of the trade, learn the trade.
  • To improve is to change, to be perfect is to change often.

I admit, I’m positive!

  • An optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.
  • If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.
  • The important thing is not to stop questioning.
  • Minds are like parachutes, they work best when open.
  • The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.
  • The wise man reads both books and life itself.
  • If you can dream it, you can do it.
  • Never forget that only dead fish swim with the stream.
  • Do, or do not. There is no try.
  • If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.
  • Opportunities are seldom labelled.
  • Chance favours the prepared mind.
  • Don’t limit your challenges, challenge your limits.
  • Experience is one thing you can’t get for nothing.
  • You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf.
  • In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.
  • Not to know is bad, not to wish to know is worse.

Battle

For the past few days I was mentally tired and just felt like shutting down myself from the world temporarily. Thanks to someone, I’ve regained my energy back. I went to watch BBoy Battle and somehow I got motivated by them, the break dancers. I admire those people who have passion in their lives in doing the things they like and they go all out for it! Whereas for me, I like doing many things but not deeply passionate for all the things that I’m doing. In the end, I achieve nothing. I feel that it’s better to focus in mastering one skill rather than knowing many skills but a master of none. As for now, I’m still hunting along the journey to find the thing that will ignite my passion the most.

P/S: Thanks to YK and congratz to him and his partner for getting 1st runner-up in the battle! ^^

The Storm

One day a young lady was driving along with her father. They came upon a storm, and the young lady asked her father, “What should I do?” He said, “Keep driving.” Cars began to pull over to the side, the storm was getting worse. “What should I do?” The young lady asked. “Keep driving,” her father replied.

On up a few feet, she noticed that eighteen wheelers were also pulling over. She told her dad, “I must pull over, I can barely see ahead. It is terrible, and everyone is pulling over!” Her father told her, “Don't give up, just keep driving!” Now the storm was terrible, but she never stopped driving, and soon she could see a little more clearly. After a couple of miles she was again on dry land, and the sun came out.

Her father said, “Now you can pull over and get out.” She asked, “But why now?” He said, “When you get out, look back at all the people that gave up and are still in the storm, because you never gave up, your storm is now over. This is a testimony for anyone who is going through hard times.”

Just because everyone else, even the strongest, gives up. You don't have to. If you keep going, soon your storm will be over and the sun will shine upon your face again.

Just Do It!

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not advertising for Nike. Don’t you think this phrase is powerful? In a sense that if you dare to follow.

I came across this song and a phrase quoted by my friend in FB.

“Dream what you want to dream;
go where you want to go;
be what you want to be;
because you have only one life
and one chance to do all the things
you want to do.”
Quoted from Dr. Choong Kwai Fatt

Most people tend to choose the path that is made ready for them. We would go for the safer side, a path which we thought would give us a better future. Most people sacrifice their dreams just to take this path, thinking that their dreams are vague, hard to chase, grey future, not a smooth path, or even unobtainable.

But most people don’t realize their true potential. Because they just don’t believe in themselves. Restricting and limiting yourself is like putting a big rock in front of you that stop you from going further. Then, you turn to an alternative road which you may not really like. Confidence is an important element in supporting your belief towards your ability.

Since I was young, I was being brought up in the way that a typical family would do. Go to school, get good result, obtain scholarship, receive a degree certificate, find a good job, earn money and build a family. It seems almost like a routine for me. And I believe I’m not the only one who is being brought up this way.

It’s not a bad thing to have guidelines in our lives so that we know the direction of the place that we are heading to. But those are just guidelines. Not the perfect answer to your life’s journey.

There are also numerous successful people out there. These are the people who dare to take the risk. Who dare to do something different. Who dare to follow their dreams. Who dare to say, “Just do it!”

I want to be one of them.

No Limit!

I always thought I’m just a normal person (I’m still a normal person). I never thought that I actually can do something beyond my expectation. I’m referring to MIX challenge. MIX is a business challenge competition requiring us to solve real-life problem for Sunway Lagoon to sustain it’s customer loyalty.

At first, I have no intention to join because I thought I’m not that good and creative enough and any idea that comes out from my brain would be just a normal idea which everyone can think of.

But now I really appreciate my friend, Samm a lot for forcing encouraging me to join in the first place. So I got together with Katherine (another best friend of mine who was being “forced” by Samm to join), Sok Kim and Mooi Fong to form a team. We didn’t expect that we’d be able to make it to the final and that surprised us a lot when we received the news.

Top 8 teams were chosen among 28 participating teams. Since we made it to the final, we decided that we must do our best to win the cash prize (money is a motivation). Unfortunately, we didn’t win because our idea wasn’t greater than some other teams.

I’m a bit disappointed which I think is normal that every team that didn’t win would feel so. However, I’m very satisfied with it because it made me realize my true potential. The experience is really priceless.

Unconsciously, I always drew a line in everything I do, limiting myself only to that line. I never thought that I could actually exceed that line. I believe everyone has his/her true potential which is not discovered yet by him or herself. It really depends on your mind a lot. You can reach as far as you want if you are persistent enough and strongly believe in it. Again, this reminds me of Law of Attraction which I neglected sometimes.

My Passion Is Back!

Yup! That’s right! If you’ve followed me, you would know that I was not in a good condition during December because back then I lost my passion in almost everything. Now it has come back to me. =)

I’m happy that I started liking the things I do now even more than before. I appreciate every moment I have whenever I’m involved in it.

My passion is growing for…

DANCING!

SINGING!

PLAYING MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS!

BLOGGING!

SWIMMING! (Though I still don’t know how to swim but I want to learn so much!)

ALL THE THINGS I’M DOING!

When you like the things you do, that is HAPPINESS!

Inspiration

Make Life Great!
You have a brush in one hand and paint in the other. You just need to realize that you are the Artist of your own destiny. The outcome of such a realization will transform the road ahead of you into canvas, waiting only for you to start painting.
-Conroy Sewepagaham-

Grow By Giving
Give out today like you will not see the next second; take in today like you will live for another 100 years to see the consequence of what you took in. What you take in determines your destiny and what you give out determines your legacy.
-Leussa Adrienne-

Kindness Is Wisdom
Nothing good for this world is ever attained without sacrifice. Nothing great in life is ever achieved without hard work. Nothing that we give to others, out of the goodness of our heart, is ever given without giving away a small piece of ourselves.
-Jay Goldman-

Love Yields Much
What I do you cannot do; but what you do I cannot do. The needs are great and none of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things with great love. And together we can do something wonderful.
-Mother Teresa-

Spread Your Joy
Happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within. It is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us which makes us happy; it is that which we think and feel and do, first for the other fellow and then for ourselves.
-Helen Keller-

Believe And Achieve
Men often become what they believe themselves to be. If I believe I cannot do something, it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe I can, then I acquire the ability to do it, even if I didn't have it in the beginning.
-Mahatma Gandhi-

Plant Positive Thoughts
In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.
-Michael Jackson-

Always Aim Higher
The tragedy of life is not found in failure but complacency. Not in you doing too much, but doing too little. Not in you living above your means, but below your capacity. It's not failure, but aiming too low, that's life's greatest tragedy.
-Benjamin E Mayes-

Life Rewards Effort
Successful people aren't born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don't like to do. The successful people don't always like these things themselves; they just get on and do them.
-William M Thackeray-

Persistence Breaks Resistance
Strength and courage aren't always measured in medals and victories. They are measured in the struggles they overcome. The strongest people aren't always the people who win, but the people who don't give up when they lose.
-Ashley Hodgeson-

Build Trusted Relationships
Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.
-Colin Powell-

Decisions Determine Destiny
The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek, therefore, not to find out who you are; seek to determine who you want to be.
-Neale Donald Walsch-

Chill

A few days ago, a "Tukang Urut" came to my house to give my aunt a massage on her legs to relieve the pain due to old age. His job is to travel to people's houses and provide massage services. He charges RM20 per person and because of his good skills, he has many customers. Let me tell you, he is earning like mad!!

Why do I say so? Let me perform some simple calculations here. On average, he has around 10++ customers per day. Lets say to make it easy, we assume he massages 10 people per day, it means that he earns RM200 per day. Lets say 1 month = 30 days, he earns RM6000 per month. Even if you deduct weekends for break, he is still earning around RM4000 per month. The good news here is he doesn't even need to worry about paying tax! No shop lot, little investment, no legal license required.

Compare with a degree holder who works in an office earning almost the same amount or maybe less. What's the point if you graduate with 4.0 or first class honour and in the end you end up working with a bank or in any company which only pays you around that amount?

Even a person who doesn't have any degree can sometimes earn more than you. Success cannot be measured by the grade you obtain during school life. The grade is only a scale that labels how well you can memorize or understand the subject you are learning.

But of course, I didn't say that you need not work hard or give up your studies. Everyone had their own aims in life. I don't stress myself to study. Whenever I do anything, I do with my whole heart. So I give my best shot in everything. Whatever the outcome is, it is the result of my ability and effort which I put in. Hence, I won't feel that I'm wasting my time in this life. And when you do something with your whole heart, you'd feel happy in doing it. Not forcefully.

I hope this post might enlighten some of you who are stressed up with studies. Gambate! ^^

Miracles

This is a side project that Da.Mon.Ster and BOT@MOSound voluntarily did and produced to remind everyone to never give up even if there is only little hope because miracles are always waiting right around the corner.

Inspiration is triggered by tons of less fortunate news and this song is dedicated to Him Yee who is now struggling for her life.

The purpose of this song is to give awareness to everyone to stay strong and give a helping hand to those who are in need when stranded in rainy days.

Even a little help of yours could bring a big change to someone's life and future.

Believe in Miracles!

SUKMA: Basketball

I went to watch SUKMA basketball match.

Girls: Melaka vs Selangor
Boys: Melaka vs Penang

It was nice to watch! Both Melaka teams won! ^^ During the boys' match, the whole atmosphere became hot! The crowd was very FIERCE. It was more like audience competing rather than the players. Haha.

I saw many new faces and a few old faces. What do I mean by old faces? It means the state's players I knew 6 years ago. I guess only 1 or 2 are still representing Melaka. The rest are new, young faces.

Actually I didn't plan to stay to watch the boys team. To my surprise, I saw my friend played for Melaka but his hometown is not Melaka. Weird huh? Because of him, I stayed on to watch till the end. I'm glad that I remained. The competition was exciting!

Looking back at this, it reminds me of 6 years ago. When I played for my school. Although I wasn't a good player, but I did my best. I love those feelings. The feeling of satisfaction I get when I stand in the court to perform. The thrill and excited feeling when I managed to score.

This is the glory I've lost since I entered F6. And I lost myself even more when I entered the university. For the past 2 years in UM, I've been doing things which I now realized isn't my dreams at all. Engaged in things that didn't bring me any satisfaction. Although I have some good memories with friends when organizing projects, those were only memories.

I want to find back the glory I have had before. Even to the extend that I need to sacrifice my time for it. I want to engage in things that interest me, satisfy me. I want to realize my DREAMS!

Half Day Outing

This morning I went to Sunway Pyramid with my friends to support one of our friends who managed to make it to the top 15 of Astro Talent Quest 2010. Woohoo!!! Congratulations!!!

I know, I know... It's study week and we are supposed to stay in room to study, study and study... But I just wished to get out of UM and leave studies life for a moment. And since my friend was running a publicity show for Astro Talent Quest top 15 (what a coincidence... hehe...), I allowed myself to use this reason to curi tulang. =p

Our friend: Sam Wong *Support him ya!!*

The Top 15 Contestants

Of course, since we were out already, we didn't waste the outing and treated ourselves with good food!! *Better food, better brain.* We went to FULLHOUSE after the show. *HAPPY* ^^

From left: Grace, Stef, Yap, Li Peng

After exam, I must travel, travel, travel!!! Although Sabah trip isn't successful due to some reasons, at least if I can get to visit some nice places nearby would be good enough!

The must-do-list:
1) Visit Broga Hill and Bukit Tinggi
2) Movie marathon
3) Shopping (thinking to change style)
4) Sing KTV
5) Go Sunway Lagoon
6) Go Muar to hunt for food
7) Master chinese language (reading & writing)

My dream-list:
1) Master a musical instrument (maybe guitar)
2) Sing, sing, sing and sing!! (voice training)
3) Have my own band
4) Perform in PTUM and DAYAO be it dancing, singing or acting
6) Join modelling

Maybe some of you might think that I have big dreams and the possibility to become true is low. But who doesn't have dreams? Only dreams will ignite our passion to drive towards its achievement. Nothing is impossible if one has the will. So dare to dream!

Changes In Me

I realized that I have 2 main weaknesses and my friends did pinpoint me as well. First, easily beaten by the feeling of "giving up" half way through the projects. Second, stubborn/hard-hearted.

These 2 bad habits I should say, is something that I MUST CHANGE! When I'm stress or ill, I tend to give up easily on the projects which I hold posts. But every time when I said I wanted to quit, it ended up that I didn't. Instead, I continued and performed my best for the project. Reason --> My friends' encouragement. Although I didn't quit, but having the feeling of giving up and saying it out to the committee is a wrongful act to me. I actually feel very guilty for behaving this way.

The way I talk is also a problematic attitude of mine. I usually talk in a 'hard/harsh' way. Sometimes, I would indirectly hurt people's feeling without realizing it. My friends have advised me to talk gently before. Even if I disagree with something/someone, I must say it in a polite manner.

I know I need to change these 2 bad habits. And I'm learning to change now. It's not easy to change a habit which has been with me for so long. But I know I can do it. And I MUST DO IT!

For the better me!

P/S: To my friends and family, sorry if I've been harsh on you and disappoint you throughout all these years. And thanks for being patient with me and stay with me for so long.

Hold On

When you feel like the whole world is going upside down...
When you feel like letting go...
When you feel like giving up...
When you feel like there's no hope...
When you don't feel like living anymore...

Have Faith

Just read a friend's blog. The video in the post is really inspiring. Everyone can achieve anything they want as long as they believe in themselves.

So start believing today.
